Joan Lebow, MD

I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Marshall University School of Medicine, with a residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University. With over 20 years of experience in primary care, I have dedicated much of my career to improving access to care, particularly through my roles as Medical Director at both the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and Central Street Health Center within the Cambridge Health Alliance.

Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, I have been an active member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health Lifestyle Health, Weight Loss, and Wellness Center. In my current role, I serve as the Patient Experience Champion for our center and as an Epic super-user, leveraging technology to enhance patient care.

I am passionate about the patient-doctor relationship and deeply committed to finding the most effective ways to educate and motivate patients within the constraints of a clinical visit. To further expand my approach to patient care, I am currently enrolled in a health and wellness coaching program.
